The law firm where you work is a general partnership with four partners and twenty employees. This is the first year that the firm has operated. Your managing partner is responsible for completing IRS forms 1065, W2, and K1 for the firm. He has asked you to review these forms and draft a memo to the partners requesting documents and other information from them that would be necessary to complete these forms. You should also research the applicable income tax laws for your state, attach a copy of any necessary forms that may need to be completed for compliance with state tax laws, and list any additional documents or other information that may be required for the state tax filing that was not necessary for the federal filing.
Your memo should be 2-3 pages in length. Incorporate at least 5 different law review journal articles and/or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work. Format citations and references per Harvard Blue Book rules.
