For example vaccines are among the most cost-effective clinical preventive services to offer, and are essential for decreasing morbidity and mortality in vulnerable populations (Healthy People, 2014), and having venues such as RCs is a viable method of increasing access to vaccinations. They also provide services to patients with or without insurance or a primary care.
The retail clinics are advantageous to patient outcome because they are located in retail supermarket and pharmacy chains to provide high-quality, affordable, and easily accessible health care services for communities. They improve patient outcome through offering patient-centered, comprehensive, and accessible, and also coordinating care with all of the patients’ primary care and specialty care provider teams. They providing health promotion and disease prevention, education to patients to maximize the impact of the patient encounter. Through providing a copy of the visit record, written discharge instructions, and education material to patients upon leaving the clinic to ensure that patients understand any diagnosis made, recommended treatment, and care plans, they engage patients in their own care.
