Pick your group for your group project by end of month. Pick a leader who will take your completed powerpoint and submit it to WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT GROUP PROJECT, so I can grade it.
You have 4 choices of topic for your group assignment: success, bullying, reckless teenagers, depression/suicide in young adults. Confirm your choice here.
You will click Assignments, click a topic, and join one of the 4 groups. There will be 4-5 people in each group; two topics are set up with 2 potential groups.
I think you will click on People in order to join a group. You can try out all four groups, but commit to one by the end of the month. I suspect some of you are thinking: Great, group work? Others may be groaning, so let me tell you why they are encouraging us to offer group activities.
A few years ago there was a major effort to get students enrolled in college. Soon it became evident we needed to focus on how to help them succeed and graduate. NOW we are focused on how to be sure they leave college with skill sets to enable them to find jobs quickly that they can be successful at. Being team players is one of the skills we are told we need to help students develop. Accomplishing that goal online is a challenge as we cannot look over your shoulders and listen to interactions and guide you in working together. Hopefully, you have developed enough social media skills that we can make this happen. I’ve tried online groups before with little success; hopefully now I have a handle on it. So if there are difficulties and you can suggest a workaround, please share that information and I will try to implement it. Good luck with this project.
As a group you will create a PowerPoint that will cover all the objectives related to the topic as a way of educating high school graduates to help them prepare for the world they are about to enter. So each of you will be adding content to the group project. which will be submitted within that Assignment.
This is my third effort to make this work, so we may have to modify as we go to make it work–so this too is a team effort. And I will remember who made productive suggestions for making it work.
