Author Research
In this course so far, you have read works from several prominent
American authors. This week, choose one of those authors who interests
you the most. Investigate his or her life to see how life experiences
influenced his or her writing.
Use the following topic areas to guide your search:
- Early life
- Adult life
- Family
- Career
- Major events
- Influences
- Political views
- Major works
- Recurring themes
Compose a 2-3 page paper that discusses the following questions:
- What aspects of the author’s life seem to have influenced thematic, character, or plot choices in the author’s writing?
- Which works (according to your research) seem to have had the greatest influence on society?
Utilize the EUO Library (Links to an external site.) or the web for your research. Cite any sources you use in APA format. Feel free when answering these questions to use examples from the works we have read to help support what you find in your biographical research.
