Week 4: Looking in the Mirror

By now, you have begun to understand and discuss your worldview, including some about its origins and effects on you. Let’s think about what it means to know yourself. McMinn writes in this week’s readings of the need to have a good self-understanding, in addition to other things, in order to be effective. The McGee powerpoint (from the first week) guides you in some specific areas of self-assessment, and I’m sure you think about how the pieces “fit” for you when reading the other texts as well. As one who serves others, what is it like for you to look inwardly? What do you see in yourself as you work with others who are hurting? What is difficult to face? What about your reactions to others surprises you?
