Submit two research or thesis statements that your are thinking about using to guide your paper. Be as specific and concrete as possible and try to include a moral theory into the statement. I also encourage you to use first person when doing this. Take for example this statement:
I want to study how deontological ethics are used by military ethicists in soldier training and in forming rules of engagement for using robots, like PackBot, to deliver explosives to enemy combatants. My goal is to better understand how designers might think about improving robot systems on the battlefield to be both more useful and more principled. I also want to know more about this industry because I will likely be working in it.
For each of these statement evaluate what you think will be easy about the topic and what will be difficult. Narrate each (about 50 words for both).
4 pts for two (2) clear and specific research statement (2pts each)
2 pts for narratives about easiness and difficulty of each topic (1pt for each pair).
This week find a book review that reviews three thematically related books. Look in periodicals like New York Review of Books (Links to an external site.) or Los Angeles Review of Books (Links to an external site.). As a good example read about four books on Internet Trolls from the London Review of Books (Links to an external site.).
Give a 50 word narrative of what you are looking for and how you are searching for it. Tell us about what sorts of articles and materials you came up with.
Continue your narrative for 50 more words and tell us which news article you chose and why.
Write a paragraph summary of the article.
Provide the correct APA citation of the article.
